Birla Cellulose, the sustainability-focused man-made cellulosic fiber (MMCF) business of the Aditya Birla Group, has entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Circulose, a Swedish sustain-tech company specializing in recycled textile pulp.

Under the partnership, Circulose will supply regenerated pulp made from 100% textile waste to Birla Cellulose, which will convert it into viscose staple fibers. These fibers will then be made available to brand partners and downstream customers, strengthening the global supply of sustainable recycled materials across fashion, apparel, and home textile sectors.

This collaboration is designed to scale mainstream adoption of recycled Fibers, supporting circularity throughout the textile value chain—from waste collection and regeneration to fiber manufacturing and end-use. Birla Cellulose’s global manufacturing footprint, which includes pulp and fiber production sites and advanced research centers, bolsters efforts to integrate recycled content at industrial scale.

Vadiraj Kulkarni, Business Head of Birla Cellulose, underscored the company’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and circular solutions through this agreement. Circulose’s patented process for recycling cellulosic textile waste complements Birla Cellulose’s vision of delivering high-quality, sustainability-driven Fiber solutions that help reduce environmental impact and textile waste.

As brands and consumers increasingly prioritize eco-friendly materials, partnerships like this highlight the textile industry’s shift toward closed-loop recycling and circular innovation, offering a pathway to reduce waste while supporting responsible material sourcing on a global scale.
