Bangladesh is rapidly emerging as a key player in global trade, and Dr. Muhammad Yunus has laid out a compelling vision for the country's transformation into a manufacturing hub for international markets. Addressing top Chinese business leaders at the "Investment Dialogue" in Beijing, Dr. Yunus urged investors to set up factories in Bangladesh and capitalize on its strategic location, skilled workforce, and trade-friendly policies. He emphasized that Bangladesh could serve as a gateway not only to its own market but also to neighboring regions, including Nepal, Bhutan, India’s northeast, and the entire Bay of Bengal corridor.
Highlighting the country's potential, Dr. Yunus spoke about the dynamism of Bangladesh’s young workforce, describing them as adaptable, innovative, and eager to contribute to high-tech and assembly-line industries. He assured investors that Bangladesh offers a business-friendly environment with no trade restrictions and some of the most competitive advantages for foreign direct investment. "Bangladesh is not just a country for production it’s a launchpad for global trade," he remarked.
The dialogue saw participation from over 100 top entrepreneurs and CEOs from China, with representatives from industries such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and technology showing keen interest. The event also featured Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of BIDA and BEZA, who presented "Bangladesh 2.0: Gateway to Growth," outlining the nation’s evolving economic landscape and the reforms undertaken to streamline investment processes. Chinese investors expressed enthusiasm, with CCPIT Vice Chairperson Li Qingshuang pledging to facilitate more investment promotion events between the two countries.
The discussions culminated in roundtable sessions with leaders from global corporations, reinforcing Bangladesh’s position as a rising economic powerhouse. As Dr. Yunus continues his engagements in China, including meetings with high-ranking officials and academia, Bangladesh’s ambitious trade and investment future looks brighter than ever.
