The Ministry of Textiles has confirmed the signing of investment Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs.18,500 crore for the seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks. This landmark initiative is a key step toward strengthening India’s textile sector, enhancing its contribution to the economy, and boosting exports. The announcement highlights the government's commitment to driving large-scale development in this critical industry.
As part of the year-end review, the ministry revealed that significant progress has been made in developing the infrastructure for these parks. Selected states and special purpose vehicles (SPVs) have initiated critical activities to ensure these textile hubs are equipped with essential facilities. The infrastructure work includes acquiring 100% of the required land and obtaining environmental clearances, laying a solid foundation for the parks' operation.
Efforts are also underway to provide the parks with essential utilities such as water, power, and road access, ensuring seamless connectivity and operational efficiency. These initiatives align with the government’s broader vision of creating world-class infrastructure to position India as a global leader in textile manufacturing and export.
The PM MITRA Parks, envisioned under the government's flagship scheme, aim to create integrated textile value chains that span spinning, weaving, processing, and garment manufacturing. These parks are expected to attract significant domestic and foreign investments, providing a platform for global competitiveness and fostering job creation across multiple states.
By focusing on infrastructural development and the swift implementation of policies, the government seeks to enhance the ease of doing business for stakeholders in the textile sector. The ?18,500 crore investment potential underscores the confidence of investors in the sector's growth trajectory, bolstered by the PM MITRA Parks' promise of modern facilities and streamlined operations.
This initiative marks a transformative step for India’s textile industry, aiming to meet both domestic and international demand with high-quality, sustainably produced textiles.
