Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined a bold vision for India’s economic development, emphasizing the transformative potential of textile, tourism, and technology in shaping the nation’s future. Addressing the Madhya Pradesh Global Investor Summit in Bhopal, the Prime Minister highlighted how these three sectors will serve as powerful engines of job creation, fostering growth across industries and empowering millions.
"Three sectors will play a crucial role in India's development—textiles, tourism, and technology. These will generate crores of new jobs and boost the economy," he stated, underlining India's rich textile heritage and its role in global markets. As the world's second-largest producer of cotton, India’s textile industry remains a key contributor to economic progress. Recognizing Madhya Pradesh as the ‘cotton capital’ of India, he noted that the state alone supplies 25% of the country’s organic cotton.
India is also the sixth-largest exporter of textiles and apparel globally, and the government is determined to enhance its competitiveness in technical textiles—a high-growth segment used in industries like healthcare, infrastructure, and defense. The National Technical Textiles Mission, launched in 2020-21, has been extended till 2025-26 with a financial outlay of 1,480 crore, aiming to push exports beyond USD 10 billion. Beyond textiles, Modi also emphasized the importance of water security, stressing the government’s commitment to river interlinking and conservation projects to ensure long-term sustainability.
With a strategic push towards modernization, innovation, and sustainability, India is positioning itself as a global leader in textiles, a premier tourism destination, and a powerhouse in technology. As investments pour in, the synergy of these sectors will pave the way for a new era of economic dynamism, bringing prosperity to millions across the nation.
