Unifi Launches AMY Peppermint Yarn, Merging Natural Freshness with Sustainable Textile Innovation

Global Textile innovator Unifi, based in Greensboro, North Carolina, has introduced a breakthrough product that blends performance, sustainability and natural innovation. The newly launched AMY Peppermint yarn harnesses the power of sustainably sourced peppermint oil to create a naturally deodorizing fabric solution designed to maintain freshness across multiple uses. This eco-conscious innovation presents an alternative to conventional antimicrobial treatments, offering brands a way to meet rising consumer demand for both comfort and responsibility.

The yarn has been engineered for a wide range of applications, from Apparel and Footwear to Home textiles and even Transport interiors. Available in virgin as well as Repreve recycled polyester, it retains effective odor control for up to 50 wash cycles. Each strand is traceable through FiberPrint technology and comes certified by U-Trust, GRS and SCS for its recycled content, further reinforcing transparency and accountability in production.

Alongside AMY Peppermint yarn, Unifi is also expanding its sustainability portfolio with the introduction of Repreve Takeback (recycling program) and ThermaLoop insulation (high-performance thermal insulation material) created using Repreve fibers. Both products are produced entirely from textile waste, eliminating the need for additives, colorants or low-melt polymers.

By combining natural freshness, recycled content and circular design, Unifi is setting new benchmarks for the textile industry. With a goal to recycle the equivalent of 1.5 billion T-shirts worth of textile waste by 2030, the company is aligning innovation with environmental responsibility. AMY Peppermint yarn, alongside these new initiatives, signals a future where performance textiles can thrive without compromising the planet.
