Mumbai has become the epicenter of textile innovation as the Global Textile Technology and Engineering Show (GTTES) 2025 opened its doors at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Goregaon (East). Hosted by the Indian International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society (India ITME Society), this three-day event (February 21–23) marks a major milestone in India’s textile industry, fostering technological advancements and global partnerships.
The grand inauguration, steeped in tradition with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, saw the presence of key industry figures, including Dr. Kailash Shinde, Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and Ms Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Textiles Commissioner of India. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman of the India ITME Society, emphasized the event’s role as a global hub for technological exchange, uniting 39 countries and 210 exhibitors.
"GTTES is a dynamic platform, driving business and collaboration in an industry that contributes 13% to India's industrial production, 2.3% to the GDP, and 12% to foreign exchange inflows. It enables textile machinery manufacturers to expand their reach and build invaluable connections worldwide," said Sanghvi.
Ms Roop Rashi Mahapatra praised Mumbai’s administrative leadership for integrating technology into urban development, making the city more livable and industry-friendly. She also acknowledged the unwavering support of key stakeholders, including the Textile Committee, SBI Foundation, and NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), as knowledge partners.
With cutting-edge innovations and global collaborations at its core, GTTES 2025 is set to shape the future of India’s textile technology, positioning the country as a leader in the global textile machinery sector.
