Ministry of Textiles Brings Stakeholders Together in New Delhi
In a significant move to accelerate the implementation of Union Budget initiatives, the Ministry of Textiles convened a Northern Zone Stakeholder Consultation in New Delhi on April 7, 2026. The event witnessed participation from over 200 stakeholders, including representatives from state governments, industry leaders, academia, export promotion councils, and artisans.
The consultation aimed to create a collaborative platform where policymakers and industry participants could engage in meaningful dialogue around the schemes announced in the Union Budget 2026–27. With India’s textile sector poised for significant expansion, the focus was on aligning policy frameworks with on-ground realities to ensure effective execution. To enable detailed and result-oriented discussions, the consultation was divided into multiple breakout sessions covering critical initiatives.

The consultation strongly echoed the broader national vision of transforming India into a global textile powerhouse. Leaders highlighted the importance of innovation, sustainability and quality enhancement across the value chain to strengthen India’s position in global markets.
Key focus areas for future growth:
Senior officials underlined that India’s textile industry is expected to reach a market size of USD 350 billion by 2030, with exports playing a crucial role in this growth trajectory. The emphasis was also placed on bridging policy and implementation gaps through continuous stakeholder engagement. The consultation concluded with a strong commitment from all participants to work collaboratively toward strengthening the textile ecosystem, generating employment and supporting inclusive growth across the country.
